2014 Jaguar F-Type vs 2016 F-Type Coupe Review

The 2014 Jaguar F-Type is a two-seater available in base R , S
and V8 S trims.


The F-Type design was inspired by the C-X16 and is defined by
three lines – one creating the twin ‘shark gill’ openings, one
beginning at the rear edge of the door and then flowing upward,
and one forming the dramatic, sweeping-roof profile.

The headlamps have J blade LED running lamps, whereas the same
LED technology is optional when it comes to the tail lamps.

The vehicle is offered with either aluminum or panoramic glass
roof panels. On the rear part, a hidden rear spoiler was
installed. It rises at 70 mph and lowers at below 50 mph.

The cockpit of the 2014 F-type looks like a typical sports car
cockpit. Even the base trim is enriched with plenty of “sporty”
cues, racy stitching, bolstered seats and a passenger handle
flanking the center stack.

It includes top-of-the-class materials, comfort and high-tech
features. What additionally increases “coolness” of this
vehicle are the central air vent rising from the dashboard and
an Ignis orange start button.

Trunk size is limited to 6.9 ft3, so it’s a bit
tight, and the space is oddly shaped. Therefore, it’s not very
convenient for loading.

The base trim comes with leather and suede cloth sport seats
with 6-way power/manual adjustment, a GPS navigation system
with Traffic Messaging Channel and a 380-watt Meridian audio
system including 10 speakers.

The S model includes the Ignis orange steering wheel-mounted
shift paddles, the Smart Key System with keyless start and
entry, and ambient interior lighting with five color choices.

Engine and performance

The F-Type 2014 base trim uses a 3.0-liter supercharged V6
engine that delivers 340 hp and 332 pound-feet of torque. The
engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic with manual shift
control which sends power to the rear wheels. It develops
acceleration of 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

The S trim is powered by the V6 engine which produces 380 hp
and 339 pound-feet of torque. It accelerates to 60 mph in 4.8

The V8 S type uses a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that produces
495 hp and 460 pound-feet of torque. It’s able to develop
acceleration 0-60 mph in only 4.2 seconds.


The F-TYPE base trim costs $65,000, the S trim costs $77,000
and the V8 S trim costs $99,000.

2016 Jaguar F-Type – what’s new?

The 2016 F-Type lineup adds all-wheel drive and a new
manual-transmission option on base trims, and finishes the
lineup with the new F-Type Convertible R.

As for the styling, nothing has changed and that’s the good

The cockpit seems like an intense, focused space. There’s no
trim or wood, but carbon-fiber and red leather are offered as
optional. Ancillary info is displayed on a large LCD, climate
controls are placed on the stack as rotary knobs with push
functions for seat heating.

6-speed vehicles with rear-wheel drive are now available with
6-speed manual. All-wheel drive is now offered on 380-hp cars.

The V-8, 495-hp trim has been replaced with a supercharged V-8
engine delivering 550 hp and the acceleration ability of 0-60
mph in 3.9 seconds, and top speed of 186 mph.
